THE TREE. Alba B. (1r batx B)

Just live?

You can look at a child, and you will see that he is fighting for his little dreams. You can look at a Catalan, and you will see that he is fighting for his little country. You can look at a grandma, and you will see all that she had been fighting for, and all she will still fight for. Maybe we won't know what people are fighting for, but we can see in their faces that they are doing it.

In this world everybody fights for something. But, do we know what we are fighting for? Are we going to do anything? Or we are just going to keep on seat?

Life is not only four days, as many people say. If you also think so, you are not enjoying life, you are just wasting your time. I think that life is long enough to do what we have to do. Someone or something sent us right now and right here, maybe for something, don't you think so?

You can think what you want. I am not trying to change your mind, I am just remembering you that we have to make the most of our lives, and it’s the time to fight. Follow that little things moving inside us, our dreams, our worries... We will be here just once, so we have to follow our dreams, catch them, but sometimes it won't be so easy, and it's when we have to struggle.

Sometimes we will think that life is not fair with us, and when we might think that situations can't go worse, then, we could do nothing, or we could stand up and fight!

Never think that something is impossible, cross out this word of your dictionary, everything is possible. And the most important: do not give up; the beginning is always the hardest. Dare to struggle.

THE TREE

Above all I have to say that this video is so inspiring. In this clip we can see a child trying to move a huge tree in the middle of the road. I think that it is a way of saying that you should stop complaining because the things are not OK or are not as we would like. In this video, what they try to say to you is that it has to be you who changes the things. After all, no one is going to do it if everybody believes that another person would do it for you.

Also, we can estimate in the video the topic of teamwork when the boy is trying to move the tree and the people leave their things to help him. What a pity that this almost never happens in real life. What it comes to say to us is, as a saying says: if we join our force the achievements are bigger.

Another important topic that can be extracted from this video is the self overcoming. The way in which the boy fills with courage and throws his school’s bag to start pushing alone the trunk, as if he really believed that, he might do it.

To sum up, this video is very inspiring because it teaches us different lessons: If you want that something changes, you have to do it yourself. Also that teamwork is so important. And the last one but not the less important is the self overcoming.

Lead India – The tree

I have to tell you what this video suggests me and I have no idea how to start because when I was watching it in class I had a lot of feelings.

To begin with, I think the boy is a symbol of innocence and naivety, because he believes that he can move that tree alone; he has hope. Besides, he's annoyed because everyone is arguing and he decides to do something. All people there, children first and adults then, finally help the boy and make a teamwork.

This video also suggests me that if there's a problem, you don't have to wait the police to do something about it. If we all unite and make an effort we can change everything.

On the other hand, the sad reality is that nobody from higher caste would have helped, expecting that the lower castes serve them. India is still like that; there are a lot of differences among castes.

As well, I think it is just wonderful, this simple but powerful message is awesome but bleak that is a child who opens the eyes.

After all, just tell you that this video is exemplary and teaches us that sometimes you only have to make a change.

THE TREE. Eugeni M. (1r batx B)

THE TREE – LEAD INDIA

The first time I saw this video I felt very surprised because of the history of the video which is protagonized by a little boy. After I’ve been seeing it for a few times I focussed on the message of the video and what it represents to me.

The tree symbolizes the obstacles, problems and conflicts that we can find in life. How do you react to that?

There are many ways: fighting, arguing, avoiding troubles and not wanting to find a solution. This video shows the initiative of how one person can change the conscience of others and make them realize that they need to join in to achieve changes that only one person couldn’t achieve. To overcome obstacles or challenges, unity is our best weapon. And if anyone thinks that this aid isn’t necessary to achieve any goal, this objective will never be done.

Nowadays, Catalonia is living a political situation that is proving more than ever the certainty of the message of this video: the power of united people who are fighting for their rights. Strength lies in unity.

THE TREE. Sílvia V. (1r batx. B)

LIFE

The video that we’ve watched in class describes life, more than life, it describes how to teach us the attitude that we must adopt in front of different circumstances of life.

As the Martini advert says: “Luke is an attitude”. This sentence means (for me) that if you want, you can. For example: if you want to change the world, you would do it, with work, understanding and above all with effort.

But the video also shows a very important sequence, when the child begins to push alone the tree and when the people see him, they help the child and collaborate with him, all together for the same aim.

This is life, if somebody has problems you can or you must help him or her. But really, nowadays, we hardly ever do something for the rest because we think too much in ourselves and in our personal problems. We have embarrassment to communicate our problems, but I think that the origin of this problem is because the humans don’t listen to the others. I say: If there was someone willing to listen to your problems, then it can be much better and then we will learn to express our feelings and make the correct decisions.

So, I think that the real message of the video is showing, that if we want something very strong, we can achieve our proposals, and if someone in your way has problems, we must help this person to achieve her objective, because each person and the decision that he or she makes, are going to be a very important piece in this crazy world.

THE TREE. Laura M. (1r batx B)

We have to solve the problems ourselves

In the world, in people’s life, we find situations and obstacles that prevent us from advancing. The tree of the video suggests to me this. On the days that we are living, we find a lot of difficulties to make a perfect future or only a beautiful future.

As in the video, the authority doesn’t do anything to take out these problems, and they only sit hoping that the problems are solved by themselves, but nothing disappears alone. Children are more innocent than adults and they try to take out these problems like the tree on the way, but they are too young to do this themselves, so they need our help, the help of all the women and men.

At first, people don’t offer their help because they think that if the others solve the problems, they won’t have to do anything. But after, they have been watching the children that they try to take out the problem which prevents us from advancing and they start to think that the people who must solve the problem are them, the citizens, and not the politicians and the other powerful people.

Finally, all together get to take the obstacle (the tree) and take it out from the way. If a little group of people, working together, get to move a big tree, have you ever thought what all the people in the world could do if we worked together to make a better future? We could get to improve the world today and so we will live in a wonderful future.

THE TREE. Paula G. (1r batx B)

Nowadays, people are selfish and lazy. They think about themselves, their problems, their life but, what about the others? Must we help each other?

Definitely yes and the kid in the video demonstrates it. He fights for what he wants and finally the people next to him realise that by helping him all of them will be happy. That’s what we need: realising we’d be happier if we helped each other because usually we fight for the same things. Children are generous, if one of them has a problem they do their best to solve it as in the video they are the first at helping.

Another trouble of the society is the rush. People go hurrying everywhere, they are late at work, late at picking up the children, late at shopping... and they can’t even see that other people have problems. I think we all need to slow down from time to time and take care of our family and friends.

THE TREE. LLuís E. (1r batx A)

Children are not as stupid as people think.

In my opinion, the message of this video is, on the one hand that everybody should pay more attention to children, because people usually think they are very young and ingenuous to take a decision; but children have another perception of the world, so they can have the solution to a problem, as in this video, where there was a tree which had fallen down in the middle of the road and everybody were shouting, because they were nervous.
In this situation, there was only a person, a child who had thought a solution, he didn't know if it would have a result, but he tried it. He started to push the tree, then, everybody saw it and they joined him.

On the other hand, the video represents that in the most difficult moments, people ought to be more relaxed, because if they are nervous, probably they will not take the correct decision, however it is very difficult. In this video, the child is the only who is relaxed, maybe because he didn't know the consequences of that problem, but finally, he had the solution.

To sum up, being rich or older than other people doesn't mean that you are right and people must listen each other and children, because sometimes they have the solution.

THE TREE. Sara C. (1r batx A)

TWO WORLDS

For a second, think you're rich. You can buy an expensive car, the best mobile phone at the moment and if you want the biggest house which has ever existed. Is it funny?
Believe you're in paradise, living in a world where it's more important ambition than solidarity.
Ok, now imagine you're poor.
You haven't got any roof and anything to eat. Is it funny? I don't think so...
Well, although we don't ponder in a million people who are dying right now because they've got nothing to eat, they're somewhere in the world.
The best present you can do for them is an opportunity on this hard place.
It's rare to imagine that we could be happy only with a pair of shoes. Isn't it?
Then, you don't care if a tree is on the road and a hundred people are paralyzed.
But a child can move that tree and be productive for the society.
He has done more effect on people than any machine, he has obtained a lot of smiles and for me, it's the best thing someone can do.
Don't you think so?

TOGETHER

This video is very emotive and it’s very important the music, here. When I saw the video at home I liked more than when I saw it at school.

The video shows us that together we are stronger, that ten children can be stronger than a single man. This is one of the things that the video wants to show.

Another thing can be the mentality of the child trying to move the tree. The tree can represent lots of things: Nature or only a tree. For me it represents nature and the cause why people help the child.

Helping is very important in life. There are things which you can do alone and other ones which you can’t do alone.

Nowadays, we’re living a hard moment in this world. A single man showing his disagreement is nothing, but one million people doing it, means that their habitants aren’t good, that some people have difficulties to eat…

We have to fight, we have to be together helping people who can’t eat, so let’s go to the street and shout: WE ARE TOGETHER!

THE TREE. Míriam M. (1r batx A)

I believe that the video wants to show us that all the persons need sometimes a friend or a person that helps us in the bad moments. That we cannot make everything alone and that to ask for help sometimes is not bad.

With effort we can obtain a lot of of things that we  had never managed to obtain without.

People sometimes can surprise you and make things that you never think that they can do but with a bit of effort, they can.

For example, the video shows us that we can’t give up when something is going to stop us. We need to fight and pass all the obstacles.

If we do not help the people that are around us they won’t help us when we need the help.

Míriam Mourelo

THE TREE. Paula S. (1r batx A)

One tree, a lot of persons, one problem and a little boy.
One boy who has a little good spirit. He wants to move a tree  that it’s in the middle of the street and makes one big problem because all the cars don’t advance for the road. This big tree that makes this problem is the tree that the boy wants to move alone.
But all the people that are around him want to help him. That is the best moment of the video. When all the children and all the people help the first boy it’s very emotive.
You see, that when people help other people we could arrive farther. This is a theory that we can apply in our lives. Sometimes when you have a big problem, there are some friends that don’t want to help you. Only, real friends stay always with you and helping you. But, I think that not only can we apply this theory in our personal life, we can also apply this theory in our country, in our political life. But now I don’t enter in political life.
My conclusion, after seeing the video is the theory that I’ve said before: When we have a problem, we have to help the other people because I believe that, all together we can arrive farther.

PAULA SOBRINO

THE TREE. Arlet R. (1r batx A)

A lot of times in our lives we have difficult situations or hard problems, that everybody tries to avoid, but avoing problems is not the solution, we have to confront them and try to overcome the problems.

When there's a problem which affects many people, sometimes we think that we must forget the matter, and others will solve the problems.

But really, we must help all of us and overcome the problem together, and ocasionally we must do the first step for the others to start to participate.

In the video “the tree” all characters help to move the tree without considering the age, the sex or the race of people.
This is very important because a lot of people think something about other people only for being of a different race when truly all of us are humans.
And some people think that other people can't do all activities or all challenges for the age.

This video makes me believe that all of us must be helped by others, and all of us must help others, and we will be happy and we will be able to ahve solutions for the problems, and the most important is that we should learn to respect everybody.

SUMMER PIC. Cristina D. (2n batx A)

Last summer I went, as every year, to Galicia, and this picture is about a drawing I did in the house we live when we’re there. Even each year we have done some outputs to visit relaxing landscapes or new tourist attraction points, I would like to refer in this essay to the most artistic part of my holidays.

Since 2011 I have decide to make one of this pictures in every wall of the house with the same topic: Ice Age, the cartoon film. Last year I made the squirrel, this one the lazy, and for the next summer I will do maybe the tiger. The first character I drew was under the supervision of my dad. He was next to me correcting some mistakes, comparing between my drawing and the original one and in some occasion he took the brush. Nevertheless, this year he let me do it alone.

At first I began drawing and I felt nervous because of the good proportions, the adequate color tonality… I thought it wouldn’t be as cool as I expected and I tried to avoid going on with it, but as soon as the drawing was taking form and people from close towns started coming there to see my work and saying it was as good or better that the other one, I changed my mind.

People’s comments cheered me up. I became hopeful and in the end, as well as I started with not much interest, I got back into and I finished it with success and in no time.

Now I feel really proud about my work and so are my parents. They find it so amazing that my father is going to advertise me on the Ethernet to make drawings with different cartoon topics in walls of child rooms. By the moment, my aunt is interested in hire me to draw some Disney characters on my cousins’ room and so is my father, for his office room. So, I guess I will also earn some money doing what a relaxing job for me… That’s fantastic!

Finally, I’ve been thinking about the fact that I’ve never thought I can do something good by myself and that’s something I should change because what I have learned about this summer activity is that I’m better than I think and what sometimes hides me to do some things is not my reduced capacity, just my fear and my distrust in myself.

A SUMMER PIC

This summer I’ve made the most of it to visit some of the wonderful places of Catalonia. I have discovered amazing sites as Poblet, l’Espluga del Francolí, Vallbona de les Monges, Solsona, Mombrió de la Marca…

I visited Poblet in July and Vallbona de les Monges (the one in the photography) in August, two monasteries of XIIth century. In the first one is where most of the Catalan kings are buried, even Jaume  “The Conqueror”. They are two of the three Cistercian monasteries in Catalonia. The last one is Santes Creus.

Once I had visited them all I was able to check the common traits of the Cistercian monasteries: simplicity and no artistic distractions. They follow Saint Benedict’s Rule, a new way to conceive the monastic life and its buildings, whose motto is worldwide known: Ora et labora.

One of the typical things in summer is spending time with friends; that is what I have done. I have been to a little village called Mombrió de la Marca, where a friend’s grandparents have a nice house. We have had a lot of fun riding bikes, motorbikes, going to the swimming pool…You may had not heard about Mombrió: it is normal, I had not either.

I got shocked when I saw the little village. He had told me it was a very tiny one, but I had not imagined a village that tiny: fifty inhabitants and about fifteen houses. Nevertheless, it was not any boring, as you could think. Nature, great people, no stress… What else?

The last remarkable thing I have done this summer is working on my TR, and I still do. It is being funny…  I was scared about not having done enough work because the having fun thing, but after meeting my tutor I am happy to say that I am on the correct way.

Now, please, let me tell summer I have enjoyed a lot with him and that I am so sad he has to leave again. Goodbye and see you next year!

SUMMER PIC. Sandra V. (2n batx. A)

I've chosen this picture because its meaning is important for me. When I took the photo I stayed with a very good friend, whom I had not seen for a long time. The picture represented the happiness that friends feel when they meet again. I remember that morning as one of the best times I’ve lived in all summer. My friend and I were many hours talking about different topics and the smiles were the protagonists at all time.

It was very gratifying for me that time because it seemed that only two days had passed since the last time we had met when in fact it had been a whole year. The trust had remained intact or even grown in the time that we had not seen and we were ourselves at all times. For these reasons we decided to immortalize the moment, because I think it's always nice to relive those moments that made you very happy.
Another reason why I have decided to talk about this picture is the following: at this time it's plenty of superficiality and insincere feelings I think it's very important to highlight the value of friendship. For everyone is very important to be surrounded by people you can trust and with whom to spend the best moments those people who always speak with sincerity and will help you get up when you fall. This picture represents all this and also has an added value:  distance. It is important to note the distance does not always equate to the oblivion. When the relationship is true, distance is not an obstacle and can often be a good thing as it helps to strengthen the relationship.
Finally just adding that in such a consumerist world we live in, where we give more value to material things and become a priority when in fact they are not; we should all appreciate much more the little things around us, such as a smile, a hug or some nice words coming from people who really love us; those people who are always going to be with us for the good and the bad situations: FRIENDS!

SUMMER PIC. Jennifer B. (2n batx A)

First of all, I have to say that I didn’t know which picture to put because I had lots of options and the decision had been very difficult, but, finally, I decided to choose that fantastic photo.

Probably, at first sight you have thought “Wow! You look very male!” and yes, you are right. I can only say that our look has been provoked by an “accident” with paints. All began one day of July in Meritxell’s flat roof. Meritxell and I had met Magalí (who took the photograph), because she was going to teach us how to paint a hippie t-shirt. When we had prepared all the paintings and the t-shirts we went up to the terrace roof.
Then, we began to paint our own t-shirts while Magalí took photos with the camera. Meritxell finished faster than me and she helped me to finish my work. After it, we took both t-shirts and we put them to dry. I had my hands full of paint and I “accidentally” touched Meritxell’s face. She frown and I said “If you want, I can paint a Dalí’s moustache”, she accepted. Then, she painted me a red goatee. At the end of the afternoon, I have painted the face, the arms and the legs. However, I had a good time with them.

Maybe you don’t think that an “accident” can provoke that type of things but we are teenagers and summer after a hard year makes us very crazy and we are over the moon because we can sleep more, we have freedom, we do stupid things, we live, we laugh, I mean, we are young.
