MY LAST ENGLISH COMPOSITION. Judith D. (2n batx B)

My last composition: HAPPINESS

Happiness. Nice WORD. But ... What does it mean to be happy? Happiness is a fully satisfied mood. But, what implies getting to be satisfied with ourselves? This is an issue closely related to the person and their way of life. But now, as many have heard, we live in a globalized world, where including this own mood of maximum satisfaction is influenced by the neighbor.
Humans are greedy by nature. We always want what we don’t have; thus, the more we know, the more we learn; the more we have, the more we need; the more we discover, the more we investigate ... and this is one of the major advantages and disadvantages of our species. Because society evolves through this craving, but never satisfied. Not at all.
Happiness, satisfaction, joy ... not last long. As you reach the top you are happy: for the way, for the overcoming, for the experience, for the company and especially for the challenge succeeded; but after one month, two ... a year, comes another person and beyond us. Then, our satisfaction plummets. We aren’t as happy as before.
Because if we don’t have anything, a simple chickpea would be reason for happiness. But then, we see a person next to us with a stew, and we feel unhappy; invaded by a feeling of self-pity. Then, not knowing is better than knowing?, not having anything is better than having it all? Possibly. Because happiness is just that, a WORD. A nice word, yes, but also ephemeral, fleeting, selfish and envious.
Don’t leave it like that. A word so absolutely full of hope like this (happiness) cannot be that. Because happiness is momentary yes, but many happy moments means many memories and involves a great satisfaction for the life lived and illusion for what we have to walk.

MY LAST ENGLISH COMPOSITION. Sandra V. (2n batx A)

My last composition of English at JMJ

This is the last composition… Yes, the last. It seems impossible that I am at this moment; it seems that it was yesterday when I began in this school and it's been two years since I've been here. On having written this draft I'm feeling a mixture of emotions in my interior: I feel very satisfied to be able to say that I have managed to finish this hard stage; but at the same time I feel sadness on having thought what I am going to leave behind, I have known amazing people and I have lived through unforgettable experiences.

I admit that not all the moments have been easy, not nice either, but of all of them I have learned something and it has made me grow as person and also as a student. This subject has never been easy to me; it has been one of my major difficulties, probably because I did not know how to study and I suffered a blockage in my interior or because simply the things did not go out well. But finally thanks to the effort and the dedication I have managed to overcome the stumbles.

Whenever the end of a stage approaches we have to do inventory of the positive and negative things that we have lived; it is a difficult and heavy work but it is necessary to do it because it helps us to see the mistakes that we have committed and hereby we will be able to avoid them in the future. And besides this so valuable apprenticeship, we will be able to return to live through those moments that made us happy and filled us with pride and emotion. And it is that the truth is that the real value of everything  what we live is that one that remains guarded in our heart and makes us improve constantly; and it is the recollection what keeps us alive because: remembering is living.

MY LAST ENGLISH COMPOSITION. Laura T. (2n batx A)

MY LAST ENGLISH COMPOSITION AT JMJ SCHOOL

After the ultimate effort of the third term and the exams to improve our marks, we finally can say (talking metaphorically) that selectivity is at the corner there is no time and now is the moment of truth. Actually, we’ve two weeks to review and revise exercises which can appear on the exams.

Although I don’t know if I have passed the course, I hope to have passed them all and achieved  acceptable results. Right now I’m over the moon because all is ending and I would enjoy the summer as never before despite the fact that the following weeks will be the worst of my life, however all the students know that the school has been preparing the pupils since a lot of time, always obtaining excellent results.

I’d like to conclude by saying that I’m proud of myself and my mates  because of getting the First Certificate Exam and all the new things I’ve learnt during two years on the English classes. It is always difficult to maintain constancy in work but I get the feeling in this class apart from the contents I assimilate this value which is also important. So, I hope to use English all my life and enjoy learning and improving because I believe in continuing education. It's never enough!

MY FAVOURITE US TV SERIES Mariona E. (1r batx B)

TWO TV SERIES THAT I RECOMMEND

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES

This American television series is a drama. It is based on the saga of L.J Smith and it talks about vampires. The story revolves around Elena’s life, her friends and other inhabitants of a small town in Virginia called Mystic Falls

The main plot starts when two vampire brothers, Stefan and Damon, fall in love with the same girl, Elena. Since their arrival to the town, everything is going to change and Mystic Falls will be invaded by strange creatures. Both brothers will have to fight for the love of the same girl and it won’t be easy.

It is a good combination of mystery, drama and love, which I like so much. I recommend this series to those people who like a love story with a little bit of horror and vampires.

SMALLVILLE

Smallville is one of the most fantastic series I have ever seen. This American TV show premiered on October 2001 and ended on May 2011. It has had many seasons and it has been very popular until it ended. Even now, two years later, this series still has lots of fans around the world.

This TV series follows the adventures of a man that is well known, our mythical, dear and young Clark Kent. The series is set in the fictional town of Smallville, Kansas, during the years before he becomes Superman.

In the first seasons, the episodes narrate Clark’s adolescence with his friends in the high school. It is very interesting and fascinating because in each episode you can discover a new superpower or watch any obstacle that Clark has to overcome. You also can watch many topics, not only the science fiction scenes but others like friendship, love and quotidian school problems.

On the other hand, the effects and superpowers look very real and you can imagine yourself going through the screen and fighting against the evil.

Particularly, I follow this series because I love the main character. He is a very good person and he never gives up to help others, for me, he is an example of purity, determination, kindness and strength.

To sum up, it is the perfect TV show for people who like science fiction but also want an emotive story full of goals, love, glory and legend.

MY FAVOURITE US TV SERIES Dani C. (1r batx A)

US American series

The United states have invaded our houses for ages. Don’t misunderstand me; I’m not referring to military actions, but TV series. Friends, MacGyver, Texas Ranger, CSI... everybody will have their favorite one. It’s up to you, no matter which tastes you have; the United States will find the TV show which better fits you.
Along the years I have followed lots of series but some of them have stuck on me so strong that I wouldn’t imagine my childhood without them.

The first one is Big Band Theory. This comedy is located in California and describes the lives of four geeks who work in the university. They love Star trek, comics and can’t get girls in the parties. Some of them see the life, the behavior, the relations as an experiment; another cannot say a word in front of a girl unless gets drunk and there’s also a Jew who still lives with her mother. It’s funny to go for a walk by the chemistry faculty and see the boys wearing Spiderman t-shirts. Sometimes, the fantasy is not that far from the reality.

The second one would be The walking dead. Please, don’t judge me but I must confess I love the histories where the human being is taken to his limits and has to do everything to survive. That’s what this history is about. The main character wakes up in a hospital and the world has come to its end: nwo the dead can walk and what they need to feed is human bodies. So, Rick, must find his family and run away from this hell. In his way to a better place he we’ll met good people and more zombies, he will have to take hard decisions, will have to protect the ones he loves just to survive one more day.

Unluckily, the third seasons has ended and now I have to wait for the fourth one. No problem, these days I have started game of thrones. This TV show is not located in the US but it’s American. I hope to finish soon; otherwise I will be in front of the screen for a little more than I should.

MY FAVOURITE US TV SERIES Paula A. (1r batx B)

It’s my favorite TV show, I love it. I watch it every afternoon after school, that’s why I recommend it.
It’s about a group of freak friends that live in the “normal world” and with “normal people”, so it’s really funny to hear what they thing about their neighbors, girlfriends, bosses… They are studying Sciences careers and there are always in the weirdest troubles that you could imagine.
Everyone has lot of fun watching it. For this reason from teenagers to parents could watch it, because it has silly jokes and also adult ones.
You can watch any chapter (the season doesn’t mind) and you will be able to understand what is it about. I hate series which if you don’t watch the first chapter you can’t follow them.
In short, Big Bang Theory is the funniest TV show. It’s perfect to watch it when you are stressed for the school or job and laugh a bit.

GREY’S ANATOMY

It’s a TV show about a girl (Meredith Grey) that starts to work in an hospital. So during the show we can watch her life in the job, friends and love world.
There are funny, stressing, sad and romantic moments. The first season is my favorite because all the protagonists are starters in the hospital, so they life hilarious moments because of their inexperience. That’s also when Meredith starts to flirt with Derek (SO handsome, it’s Patrick Dempsey).
When I watch it I can imagine the hard moments that the doctors live during their job, all the hours that they spend on it and how they love their profession.
I love Medicine, a few years ago I wanted to be a doctor, so I started to watch it and now I’m a big fan.
