MY FAVOURITE FILM. Jana Q. (3 ESO A)

A WALK TO REMEMBER

This film is a drama and a love film of teenagers. I like it because I love love films.

This movie talks about one “freak” girl, that all the students say that she’s alone, and all of them laugh with all the things that she does.

But one boy of the popular group falls in love with her, and the girl falls in love with him too.

One day the girl knows that she has an illness, and she only has one month of life, so the boy that loves her, does all the things that the girl wants to do before dying.

One week after all the desires that she had, she dies…

But the boy says “I promise you that I will love you forever” and she says “Me too”.

I have chosen this film because I think that it is different from the others, and I like it a lot.

MY FAVOURITE BOOK. Èrik E. (3 ESO A)

LA CATEDRAL DEL MAR

I recommend the book “La Catedral del Mar”, the Cathedral of the Sea. It is a book written by Idelfonso Falcones de Sierra, a Catalan lawyer and writer. This book was written in 2006, and it became the most read book in 2007 in all Spain.

The book is about a father and a son that arrive in Barcelona fleeing from danger. The father, Bernat Estanyol, a simply servant, doesn’t know if his wife is dead or alive, so he says to his son, Arnau Estanyol, that his mother is “Santa Maria del Mar”, the Virgin of the Sea, that is the virgin of the cathedral that they are building. The people of Barcelona build the cathedral by and for the people of Barcelona. In fact, “Santa Maria del Mar” is not a cathedral, it is a basilica, but everybody knows it as “La Catedral del Mar”.

I like this book because I liked the feelings that Arnau Estanyol had to his “mother”, Santa Maria del Mar, and how people protected her and looked after she, and he worked very hard to finish the temple because it was his mother’s house and it is always is house too.

MY FAVOURITE BOOK. Berta L. (3r ESO A)

 The Selection  by Kiera Cass

I’d like to recommend a book which I read recently, called The Selection, the first book of the saga of the same name as the first book.   The authorwess of this book is Kiera Cass.

This book is a dystopia, and the setting is United States of China (United States of America before the Third and Fourth world War). The main character is America Singer , a girl of the lower castes  - the population is divided into castes, caste eight is the lowest and the caste one is royalty -  who doesn't want to participate (but in the end she is  just participating) in The Selection, a process in which the Crown Prince must choose wife through this contest, where 35 girls in the entire Kingdom fight for his love and his hand.

What I liked most to my book has been to combine two things that I really like: the Princesses ( I think we all have a Princess inside our )and dystopias. It also has been the character of America, a strong and courageous character. And the cover of the book is the most wonderful, it is so pretty, when I saw her almost well I start to cry, and the covers of other books are also precious, when I went to the library to see that I could read I caught my attention that by the cover and I said to myself: Berta, this is your book.
