The Lincoln Memorial: My favourite place in the world! Martí P. (2 ESO A)

MY FAVOURITE PLACE IN THE WORLD

My favourite place in the world is The Lincoln Memorial, a US national monument built in honor of the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln.

It is located in the west end of the National Mall in Washington, DC, across the Washington Monument. The architect was Henry Bacon; the designer was Daniel Chester French, the Lincoln statue was built by the Piccirilli brothers; and the painter of the murals was Jules Guerin.

It's my favorite place because besides being from the 1930s a symbolic center of race relations, is one of the 10 most beautiful and aesthetic values of the United States of America monuments.

MY YEAR ABROAD. Valeria O. (1 BTX A)

MY YEAR ABROAD

This last year I lived in Delaware with a great host family. I decided to go abroad because my mum had also travelled when she was 17, and I grew up listening to all her stories about her year in the U.S. I’m so happy that I was able to do it because so far it has been the best experience in my life.

I stayed in Seaford, Delaware which is a tiny town in the south of the state. I went to Seaford Senior High School where I got to try a lot of new things. I played a sport every season, which were volleyball, swimming, and soccer. It was my first time in a swim-team and playing soccer, and I had so much fun! I also became part of a club called “Key Club”, and what they do is basically volunteering and helping the community. I loved Key Club because I thought it was fun to volunteer with my friends, and the best part is that I got to go to D-CON. D-CON is a Key club convention, which this year was in Baltimore, where lots of people from different states comes and spends a weekend doing activities all together.

I made a ton of new friends which I really miss. I met some at school, and some because they were my siblings’ friends. Another good thing about travelling abroad is that you meet people from other countries. One of my best friends was from Austria and another from Thailand, and they were studying abroad just like me.

My family was probably the best part of the year, because without them I wouldn’t had got so involved with school and travelled as much I did. I got to visit 8 states and they brought me to Canada which it was amazing. My host-family feels like my actual family now, and I’m so happy to have them in my life.

It has been a life-changing experience, and I would probably go again if I could. It wasn’t just for improving my English, I was able to get to know the American culture, made a lot of friends, and feeling like a family member from a family who at the beginning were strangers for me. I definetly recommend going abroad.

LONDON: My favourite place in the world. Alex C. (2 ESO A)

LONDON:
MY FAVOURITE PLACE IN THE WORLD

My favourite place in the world is London because it is very beautiful and it has a lot of interesting things. London is a fantastic city to visit and live because it has a lot of monuments to visit and a lot of places to do activities and sports like football or cricket.

My favourite monument of London is the Big Ben because I love its bell tower and its sound, but also it has a lot of amazing places to see and visit. London Eye is one of them because it’s a fantastic wheel, the biggest in Europe.

The Tower Bridge is another because it is a tower that stays in the middle of the Thames river, if you go to London you have to see the Tower Bridge and the river because are very beautiful. Westminster is another amazing monument of London because it is next to Big Ben and is the Parliament of this incredible city. Also, in London there is the Tower of London that it was the house of a thousands of persons and the fortification for the wars that there was in the past. In London the queen is very important and they did a palace for him, his name is Buckingham Palace.

But also it has a lot of installations to do sports, activities and for free time, entertainment… People who live in London there love football and they have three very good teams of this sport that are Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs also called Tottenham. There are a lot of sports centres and in there you can do a lot of sports and activities like basketball, handball, go running, go swimming… In they free time the London citizens go to the cinema, play videogames, hang out with the friends and a lot of more activities.

In summary, London is a fantastic and amazing city but the objects are too expensive. In the free time you can do a lot of activities and there are a lot of installations to do sports like cricket, tennis… It is a perfect city to live and to enjoy the life.

COPENHAGEN, MY FAVOURITE PLACE IN THE WORLD. Lluc V. ( 2 ESO A)

This summer I was in Denmark(COPENHAGEN), and I visited a lot of cool curious and wonderful things . If you let me I can tell them.

One of  this  fabulous things was the sculpture of “the little mermaid” that is one of the most important symbol in Copenhagen.

This sculpture was dedicated to the writer “Christian Andresen”. Also this emblem was made it in bronze in 1913.

One thing you can do if you go to this city is renting a bike and going to the forest of (Dyrehaven) inside the forest if you have luck you can see deers  ; but be careful  don’t go in a wrong direction because there is a forest near to Dyrehaven  without deers .

If you like action and adrenalin you can go to TIVOLI the most important park of attractions of the city or even Denmark.

This amazing park is the second old park of attractions in the world.

Mostly I suggest you to go to Dæmonen (Demon)  one of the funniest ride .

If you ride at night I think you enjoyed more because there were shine lights .

This ride has 3 entertaining loops that are fun .

You can also visit the park and watch and spectacular show .

Another curious thing is that the bicycle act like a vehicle , they’ve her own way and only can pass motorcycles or bikes .

The final thing is interesting because the coin of Denmark it’s not the Euro it’s the Danish Crown

This is the final of our trip I hope you enjoy it!

ICELAND: MY FAVOURITE PLACE Enric C. (2 ESO A)

ICELAND:
MY FAVOURITE PLACE IN THE WORLD

I love some places in the world but my favourite place in the world is Iceland because it is very beautiful and has amazing places to visit, for example some beautiful waterfalls and these waterfalls are very important.

It also has special beaches named fjords.  All fjords have a little town.

the thing why I love Iceland is the glacier, and it has the 3rd biggest glacier in  the world.  Amazing, isn't it?

But the best of the best is that in the glacier you can do a route in a snowmobile.

In Iceland  you can also do a whale sighting and you can see the blue whale, spectacular, really. And you eat “chapó”.

Another activity you can do is going walking in the walking trails and it is very beautiful.

For these things……   I LOVE ICELAND
