Comparison of 3 solos

In my review, I’m going to compare three k-pop songs. In my opinion they are all so good.

Solo: This song is of the singer Kim Jennie (Jennie). She is in the group BLACKPINK and is the first member of this group that releases her solo. The song is about how is she feels after breaking up with someone that she didn’t love at all.

Twit: This song is of the singer Ahn HyeJin (Hwasa). She is in the group MAMAMOO and is the third member of this group that releases her solo. The song is about a “toxic” relationship where the boy gives everything for the girl and the girl hurts the feelings of the boy.

Gotta go: This song is of the singer Kim ChungHa (ChungHa). She is a soloist and this is her second single. The song is similar at the Cinderella story; they are in love but she has to go at 12 o’clock so the song is turned to a sad song of heartbreak.

The first song, solo, is the song with the most relaxed rhythm, unlike gotta go, which has a stronger rhythm, and the song with the strongest rhythm is twit.

Personally, I think that the song with best meaning is gotta go even if the meaning is a little bit sad, and I also think that the song with worse meaning is twit, because she isn’t treating the boy who is supposed to be in love with well and also because the boy is very dependent on the girl. Solo is just in the middle, because she didn’t love that person at all, but she wants to be independent, she wants to shine solo.

The most difficult dance is gotta go, probably because she is a solist and she has more practice, so she can do difficult dances. The second dance that is more difficult is twit. It is also the sexiest dance of the 3, and the easiest is solo because all the movements are easier to do.

I give 5 stars to solo because even with the pros and the cons it is so good.

I give 4 stars to gotta go because I didn’t like so much the dance.

I give 3’5 stars to twit because the meaning is not so good but the song is really cool.

COMPARING THREE PERFORMERS Frida L. (2n ESO)

My composition is about three performers Ellen DeGeneres, Jimmy Fallon and James Corden. The three of them have their own talk shows. Ellen’s show is The Ellen Show, Jimmy’s show is called The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and James’ talk show is called The Late Late Show With James Corden.

First a little bit of information:

The Ellen Show:

The first show was on the 8 of  September of 2003. It has sixteen seasons and it is shot in California. The show has won fifty-nine Daytime Emmy Awards as of 2017, including four for Outstanding Talk Show and six for Outstanding Talk Show Entertainment, surpassing the record held by The Oprah Winfrey Show, which won nine. The show also won 17 People's Choice Awards. The talk show's YouTube channel is currently charted as being in the top 20 most-subscribed YouTube channels. The Ellen Show airs at 4 pm Pacific time on NBC.

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon:

The show premiered on February 17 of 2014. The show is recorded in New York City. The program airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. Eastern time. The show opens with Fallon's topical monologue, then transitions into comedic sketches/games, concluding with a guest interview and musical performance. The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon attracted high ratings from its 2014 premiere and now it has two seasons. Many moments from the series have generated viral videos. The show has been nominated for nine Primetime Emmy Awards, winning two.

The Late Late Show with James Corden:

This show is an American late-night talk show hosted by James Corden on CBS. Airing in the U.S. from Monday to Friday nights. Recorded in Los Angeles, California. The premiere was March 23 of 2015. It has five seasons and 595 episodes.

And now my reviews:

I like a lot these talk shows, all of them have different segments, monologs, games with celebrities and audience, interviews and musical performance.

For me who does the best monolog is Jimmy because sometimes he adds jokes and it is very funny. Also Ellen is very funny but Jimmy is funnier. James is funny but for me he’s the worst of them, I sometimes don’t understand him because of his British accent.

Who does the best games is Ellen. She creates new games every week! She actually has another show that it is called Ellen’s Games of Games every Thursday on NBC. Jimmy’s games also are funny but they are not that good, but they are better than James’.

The best interviews are from Ellen because it is like the celebrity and she are best friends and that gives warmness, they know everything about each other. James has better interviews than Jimmy because Jimmy’s interviews are more boring it is not that funny.

In James Corden’s show is where the best musical performances are, because he presents it more charmfully. Also, he has two minigames in the musical performances segment that are called Carpool Karaoke and Drop The Mic that are very funny. The Carpool Karaoke consists that he picks up in a car a singer and they are going somewhere listening to music and singing it. The Drop The Mic consists in two celebrities rap and when he or she drops the microphone the round ends, and the audience chooses the winner. Ellen also has very good performances but it is not that good, and Jimmy’s performances are the worst of all.

In conclusion these three talk shows are super amazing and super funny. But my opinion is that the Ellen show is better than Jimmy’s and James’. But James’ is better than Jimmy’s because of his Drop The Mic segment, because it is hilarious.

COMPARING DANCERS Nerea H. (2 ESO)

I’m going to describe and compare some of my 4 favourite dancers who are called Daniela Blasco, Lucca Mario Rozzoni, Ysabelle Capitulé and Kida The Great.

Fist let me describe them:

-        Daniela Blasco is 13 years old and she lives in Mallorca. She’s got 2 older brothers, one of thrm lives here in Barcelona. She dances lots of different styles such as Urban Dance, and she practices her dance classes in Empire of Dreams. She started dancing when she was about 9 years old and now she has turned into a famous dancer.

-         Lucca Mario Rozzoni lives also in Mallorca and it goes also to Empire of Dreams with Daniela but in difference with her, he is a student but also a choreographer. In my opinion he dances really well because he expresses lots of feelings through his body.

-       Ysabelle Capitulé is 20 years old and in April she will be 21. She lives in United States but she travels around the world to make her own masterclasses and show her dance choreographies to other people. She has 665k followers in Instagram and I’m one of them! I love the way she dresses up when she dances, and this videos are my favourites:

-         Kida The Great is a very very talented boy and it is considered as one of the best hip hop dancers of the world. He is 16 years old and on April he will be 17. He was born in California and in 2014 his father died, nowadays when he goes on a stage he dedicates every performance to him, because he knows that wherever he is, he is watching him.

He is an inspiration for all people who likes dancing.

Daniela it is the youngest of all and the prettiest girls. Lucca is just as tall as Daniela and Kida is the shortest. Ysabelle has much longer hair than Kida, but Kida has much more followers on Instagram than her, that means he is more famous. In my opinion Kida is the best dancer of the world. I’m more interested in Kida rather than in Daniela although she has an incredible talent for dancing. Ysabelle is the oldest and she is the funniest of all. Lucca is the happiest person while he is dancing and he is also the most intelligent.

COMPARING VIDEO GAMES Joan S. (2n ESO)

FORTNITE, APEX LEGENDS OR REALM ROYALE?

Fortnite, Apex Legends and Realm Royale, are the three most popular battle royale video games. A battle royale game is a game that consists in surviving, you are in an island and you have to be the last survivor, if you are the last survivor, you win.

I ‘m going to compare these three video games because they are so popular and funny at the same time. They all are free, so everybody can play if you have the necessary console, like PS4, a computer, an XBOX…

The game I like the most of these three is Fortnite, because it was the first one that came out first, and in my opinion it’s the funniest. This game is also  surreal, and this makes that young people  play. Fortnite isn’t a “pay to win” game, “pay to win” means that if you pay money to the game,  you will be better at it. One of the things for which fortnite stands out so much in the videogame community is that you can get or buy (with virtual money from the game) different aspects. 

The second game is APEX LEGENDS, that was the last game to run out, this game is realistic, so this makes that young people can’t play it, this game, as fortnite, isn’t a “pay to win”. Some people say that yes, it is a “pay to win”, but they are wrong. They say that in the game you can open booty boxes, and in these boxes you can get camflages for weapons, vehicles… 

And the last game is Realm Royale. In my opinion it’s so funny, because when you die, you become a chicken, but it doesn’t surpass Fortnite. This game, is like Apex Legends or Fortnite because is not a “pay to win game”.

In conclusion, Fortnite is the best, I ‘m giving it five stars , the second one is Realm Royale, and I ‘m giving it four stars , and the last game, is Apex Legends, and I’m giving it three stars .

INTERACTIVE PERIODIC TABLE

An intercurricular activity , crossculicar and with values.

The Reason

2019 marks the 150 anniversary of the creation of the periodic table by Russian scientist Dmitry Ivanovich Mendeleev. He tried to organize the 63 chemical elements known in 1859, according to their properties. Today, we still use it and it allows us to study and predict the properties of the 90 elements that exist on Earth in a natural way and the 118 more known that man has been able to produce

The Proposal

Every 1st Batxillerat student ( some of 2nd Batxillerat too ) had to ellaborate a short video, in English, giving reliable information about the assigned element. They were asked to be rigorous in content but original in form.

Videos had to be uploaded on YouTube, giving a QR code of he link to the project coordinators. With the QR code we had access to the video from any device.

The result of the project is the Periodic Table you will see here.

Positive aspects

The initial challenge was to generate a huge periodic table, but the activity was thought to be an English activity too. The main goal was to practise vocabulary, research of information, writing and oral expression.

Technological competence also had an important role in the project: using smartphones to record images and videos, editing videos, both images and sound, sharing videos with QR codes ....

Students have also shown their creativity, to present their elements in the most orginal way. They have collaborated with other students to act or record and they have shared the final result, not only with their classmates but also with younger students at school.

PRESERVING ENDANGERED LANGUAGES. PROJECT ESO1 - ESO2

"Languages play an important role in the daily lives of people. Not only as a tool of communication, education, social integration and development, but also as a repository for each person's unique identity, cultural history, traditions and memory. But despite this immense value, languages around the world continue to disappear at an alarming rate.

With this mind, the United Nations declared 2019 as "The Year of Indigenous Languages 2019" (IYIL2019) in order to raise awareness of them"

And with this topic, and in order to participate in the contest THE FONIX 2019 we have worked in this project with the ESO1 and ESO2 students, in order to raise awareness of the importance of preserving languages around the world.

We have prepared different activities:

We have looked for languages in danger of extinction, around the world. We have found where they are spoken, how many people still speak them and how THANK YOU is said in that language. 

With this information, we have created a big world map and have situated la languages on it. 

Our second activity consisted of reading several articles and drawing MIND MAPS with their information. They were about different ideas to protect endangered languages. 

Next activity was about creating posters with ideas to preserve the languages. 

And finally, each group has recorded videos with ideas to preserve endangered languages around the world. Here you have some of them

Now, we have to choose the best one for THE FONIX 2019 contest. 

But, no matter if they win or not, our students have done a VERY GOOD JOB, we have learnt more about languages around the world, we have been aware of how important it is to preserve all languages... and we have had GREAT FUN!

10 YEARS CHALLENGE – WhatsApp

WhatsApp is a social network which allows communication with other people with a simple text messages. You need a device  to use the app and a phone number and also an internet connection.

It was created on 24 February, 2009 by Jan Kown. At the beginning, WhatsApp was a boom because you could send free messages to your contacts in your address book. And only iPhone could send photos, videos or audios. It looked quiet different, for example, in the chats, there was a simple background and there wasn’t the double check.

These days almost everyone that has smartphone uses WhatsApp. At the moment not only can you send photos, videos or audios with all devices but also the gps ubication, documents and more. And now you can change the background and there are a double checks which lets you know if the person has read the message.

These 10 years WhatsApp has been really useful for the users, but we need to do a good use of it. Let’s see what the next 10 years bring.

This challenge has become famous showing how the pass of the time has affected to our friends or to the famous people and now it is a viral meme but leaving  aside all the memes, we need to become aware of our planet and how it’s disappearing for all of our nonsenses.

This image is a perfect example of how our planet is getting worse and worse, deforestation is one of the biggest problems nowadays and one of the things we need to think about. 

Trees are needed to breath and without them, the oxygen in this world would disappear and then we would also disappear. 

Also with the disappearance of rainforests, there would follow a big animal death wave, thousands of animal families would dissapears and the majority of them belong to animals in danger of extinction.

 We need to protect our planet and our animals because we are the cause of the current problems  and only the humans can solve them, and we just turn the face and go to see viral memes. With the help of all, we can turn our world in something similar that how we have found it.

 10 YEARS CHALLENGE 

We have a new viral challenge called 10 years challenge. That consists of posting pictures from now and 10 years ago. 

A lot of celebrities decided to participate to this challenge but there is also a dark side of this challenge. A lot of accounts have posted a 10 years challenge about the Earth, so I would like to explain more about that. 

On the first image we can see a picture taken in 2009 of a glacier of one of the poles. 

The second image is the same glacier but ten years later.

It is obvious the effect of climate change, the amount of ice has almost disappeared and the sea level has increased. That means that the water reserves of the Earth are disappearing, so now we need to ask ourselves if we can do something to change the effects of global warming. To try to reduce climate change there are some things we can do. 

A good idea would be reducing the use of transports, and instead of them going walking or using public transport. Another idea would be buying things with renewable packaging and having a cloth bag instead of using plastic bags every time that you buy something on the supermarket. 

In conclusion, if we don’t make some efforts to save our planet we will destroy it in a few years and these images of the ten years challenge are a proof of that change. It is important that we make people aware of which are the effects of global warming and show them that we can change it with small contribution.
