ITALY 2019 Albert B. (2n BATX B)

ITALY

Two weeks ago I was in Italy. I was there because I was doing a travel with my school. First of all I want to say that it was amazing and I enjoyed a lot all the time that I spent there with my friends.

The only think that I didn’t like was the vehicle we used to travel. We spent one week travelling by a bus. And of course we also made the round trip to Barcelona by bus. It was the only thing that I didn’t enjoy but I can also say that I took advantage of all the time that we spent travelling to sleep. I think that I slept more hours in the bus than in the bed of the hotels.

The hotels, another thing to talk about. Leaving aside the “problem” we had with two beds in the first hotel I think that both of them were good places to sleep and to have breakfast. We didn’t spend a lot of time in the hotels but the time we were there we were comfortable.

We spent the rest of time enjoying one of the most beautiful nations of the entire world. We visited Pisa, Milan, Siena, Padua, Venice, Florence… and every place was really beautiful, in my opinion the best city was Milan. I don’t know why but I really enjoyed a lot the day we spent there.

But the best thing of the trip was enjoying a full week with my friends. It was incredible spending a huge amount of hours with them laughing all the time and enjoying of our friendship. The cathedrals and the squares were very beautiful but without my friends I wouldn’t enjoy it.

After this beautiful reflection that is going to make me cry I only want to add that I also want to thank the teachers for the time they had dedicated to us.

ITALY 2019 Mar C. (2n BATX A)

ITALY

This year we made a trip to Italy to celebrate the end of the 2nd year of Batxillerat. We did it in October and I had great time with my friends.

At first I was a bit scared to do the trip, because two weeks after going to Italy, we had to deliver the Research Work, but I thought that the best that I could do was to disconnect during a week of school.

I’m a girl who loves meeting new people, but in many occasions the shame prevents me to do it, and in this trip (I really don’t know how and why) the shame disappeared and I had talked with some people that I’d never spoken to before.

It has also created a very beautiful relation with Marina, we were like “normal” friends the ones that help each other when they need it, but now is like that I know that she’s going to be here with me even in the worst moments, and I’m very happy to feel that.

I think that now is time to explain the things that I’ve loved from Italy.

I already knew that I’m freaky in relation to  art, but OMG I didn’t expect that! Just to say that I cried a few times looking at  different paintings and it was one of the best feelings that I’ve ever felt. I also cried listening a man playing Hallelujah, but I’m already used to crying while I’m listening to music.

In Italy you find art in the streets, in museums, in squares and even in bridges.

Art accompanies you throughout the day, as if it were your best friend, it is always there. Not only art referring to paintings, sculptures ... also in music, shops, people, everything is art there.

I’ve loved Italy, this has been the third time that I’ve been there, but I’m sure that it won’t be the last.

Italy 2019: My experience

Almost two weeks ago we were in Italy, enjoying everything it’s got to offer, or at least everything we were able to visit. That’s kind of sad because I actually enjoyed it. But first I’ll go through what we did in those days.
After a tiring day in class I went home to have lunch and prepare the last few things before starting the really long journey on the bus. Everyone was excited for the trip, and you could tell the first  moments. But as the hours passed we became more and more tired, the time in that bus never seemed to pass fast enough, and honestly all I wanted was the comfort of my bed. The time passed and the sun was finally up when we got to Pisa, those buildings under the sunlight were shining before our tired eyes. Afterwards we went to Lucca which was kind of uneventful.
And finally we got to our hotel in Florence, I was so tired i just wanted to sleep, but nevertheless excited for what was to come. My first impression was good (except for the hotel that was kind of creepy, it looked like a horror movie scenario and the mosquitos were eating me alive), and the city lights over the river were a nice view.

The entire time I was walking through the streets of Florence I couldn’t believe how pretty it was, maybe it’s just me, but the art and sculptures left me speechless. I wish we had more time there to really get to know the city.  Maybe in the future I go back to visit it.

I’m going to skip to Venice now because I got some things to say about it. Venice it’s very pretty with the gondolas, all the shops filled with incredible costumes and masks, and the “Murano” glass, after seeing that I have gained respect for the people who dedicate their time in putting together this pieces because they’re amazing. I just wish it hadn’t rained, the humidity and water literally everywhere were annoying me. But at least I got to visit Venice.

The second hotel in Lido was the best for me, my group got lucky with a really big room, plus the hotel had the beach in front, that I saw for a bit, it was cool staying there. I’d much rather have stayed there the entire trip.

Fast forward to Milan, which I will also visit again someday, there just wasn’t enough time to visit it. It was pretty and it left me wanting more.

To sum it up really fast, this trip needs less hours on the bus, more time on two or three maximum  places and not the same dinner every day. But it was fun and I’ll remember it with a good feeling.

Italy through moments

During all my school life, I’ve seen the oldest ones travelling to Italy every year. Well, probably since I first arrived in ESO…, but that’s a long time. Enough, at least, to have imagined us in the last school year doing that same trip but years before it happened, like “wow, it feels like this trip won’t arrive until ages!”, and yet, here it arrived, happened and ended.

Last week we took the bus to Italy. We got through 16 tough hours until we finally arrived in Pisa. Of course, it was worth it, but I nearly slept 3 hours, not more. There I entered to the baptistery and it was magnificent!

Just after that we had to take the bus. Again. We went to Lucca and we had a lot of fun riding a bike. Four of us rode a bike together while we visited the surroundings of the village, which was incredibly funny and beautiful to see. We even lived the experience of an Italian insulting us because we rode against the direction...
To end that tiring day, we went to our hotel in Florence. It looked like a place to film a scary movie and I had a lot of fun. But, as I was very tired, I didn't have time to have nightmares; instead I slept perfectly that night.

The next morning, we visited my favourite city of all the ones we visited during the trip. Notice that I hadn't been to Italy before, so it was my first time ever there; I had no previous references. I felt amazed by all the buildings and the art pieces we could find all around Florence. The Uffizi Galleries and the Academy (where we could admire David, by Michelangelo) left me without words. I also visited San Lorenzo, the Basilica, whose vanishing point was so obvious and clear to see that we stayed like five minutes doing nothing but admiring each line that followed it. Saturday was our most tiring day. As we didn't catch the bus, we walked during more than 12 hours around Florence, and of course we visited Ponte Vecchio. What an amazing city to get lost in! (I also took my favourite photos of the trip there!)

Sunday started perfectly visiting San Gimignano and eating literally the best ice cream I had ever tasted. A perfect village to have a relaxed and calmed time and found yourself lost in its streets and in its amazing views of La Toscana. But that was short to me, and we soon left to Siena... which was the city I liked the least. Probably I'm never coming back to Siena..., even when it has nothing to do with the city itself, but I didn't feel the connection I had with other cities. We went back to Florence and we stop at Piazzale Michelangelo to admire the beautiful views of Florence at night.

But on Monday it was time to travel far again. Our next destination was Padova, which was totally unknown for everyone of us, but the one that surprised us the most! I remember walking around the principal square during the sunset there with Guillem. It was absolutely amazing to relax there! Sometimes we have prejudices on cities (in this case, because of how unknown it sounded to us Padova) and we tend to get surprised or disappointed, which happened to me with Venice.

Venice was absolutely what I had seen but, I don't know actually, it disappointed me. I knew how the city was, but nothing really surprised me or made me connect. Of course, I recognise it is a beautiful and most of all curious city, but I felt something like "meh" while visiting it. Maybe it was the rain, or my mood, because I was tired and cold, but I was even happy to live. Maybe I'll give Venice a try to impress me... (or maybe that was because it's a romantic city and I visited it all alone, hahahaha).

Oh, I almost forget to name one of the best moments I had during the trip. In the hotel in Venice, Anna and I got lost and tried to find terraces and balconies... We explored the hotel and we could visit the beach. It gave me one the most peaceful moments! And, as we were playing scouts, we bumped into Dani and we started talking about how life evolves and how lost we feel sometimes about our future..., and it has become definitely one of my favourites moments, not to say the best I lived in Italy. (I have to recognise I love these types of long, intense, deep discussions and I needed one!).

The last day of our trip arrived, and it was time to stop in Milan before leaving to Barcelona again. Milan's duomo impressed me so much! There I had the best pizza of all the rip if I compare its quality and prize… and I was my favourite ever: the four-cheese pizza! I spent that day seeing my mates buy in lots of expensive shops and singing them Rosalía’s song “Milionària”. It was like each Abercrombie bag I saw, I sang “només vull veure bitllets de cent… f*cking money man”! It was totally a joke, but the truth is that I actually entered with the idea of buying a present to a friend and I only spent 30 seconds of my life in there… If I’m not a huge fan of spending money, imagine with that exorbitated prices!

And that was pretty all for the trip. 16 long hours to come back, which were easier to get through than when we were going to Italy and home again. A lot of photos to check and save and… time flew. I never thought I would end up tired of travelling... but the day after we arrived in Barcelona, I took a train to Vic to visit a friend, so I didn't end up tired at all.

Italy was an experience, in all respects. Definitely, what I appreciate the most of this trip is the chance we’ve had of visiting a lot of art places and getting to know some people I actually didn’t know.

LIFE. Irene L. (2n ESO)

Life

Life is a balance. As Ying and Yang say, there is always good in the bad, and something bad in the good. That's why, for every bad thing that happens, there's a good thing waiting for you. That's life, a continuous balance.  For every white thing, there is a black thing.  For every boy, a girl. For every death a birth. But, today, we are beginning to lose that balance that gives life to our planet.

Firstly, the population is increasing. Why? Because life expectancy is increasing, making the society live longer. In addition, people have more and more children, which does not help stabilize. Furthermore, we also mainly use fossil fuels, and not renewable and green energy.  Fossil fuels increase the greenhouse effect, which causes little by little an increase in temperature.

How can we fix this? It is simple. There is a magic machine that sucks carbon dioxide from the air, costs very little and builds itself. It is called a tree. A tree is an example of a natural climate solution. Nature is a tool that we can use to repair our broken climate. These natural climate solutions can make a huge difference, but only if we leave fossil fuels in the ground.

It is so simple as refunding the cutter down trees. Can we stabilize again life's balance? If everybody contributes, we can make it happen, because remember, alone you are a water drop, together we are an entire ocean.

THIS IS ART I. Calahorro (2n ESO)

The piece of art I have chosen is a ring. This ring is very special for me because I did it when I was about 11 years old. I used pink aluminum wire. My father helped me because sometimes, a lot of strength had to be done to make the ring look good.

The ring represents a flower, specifically, a rose. I don't know what economic value but it would be priced at 10 euros. From my point of view, it has a very emotional value.

I remember that while my father was cutting the aluminum wire, I drew it on a sheet. Then I started manufacturing it. The time I used to finish it was 2 hours.

For me, the ring is very beautiful. I think its beauty is in how it's done. Circular shapes are present in the circumference of the ring and also in the rose of the upper part.

In conclusion, I love this piece of art because I really like rings and roses. It´s a piece of art where we can see that a part of nature is represented in a ring.
