TECHNOLOGY: CHALLENGES OF THE NEW DIGITAL AGE
On February 6, my
classmates and I went to Can Fabra’s library to listen an English lecture about
the challenges of the new digital era. I was so excited because I always enjoy
new ways of learning and I thought it was a good opportunity we had.
First, I must say that
I did not like the lecture very much because I felt that the woman that was
doing it was convincing us to position against products that weren’t American.
Moreover,
I don’t think that the announcer has given us a good advice because everyone
knows that if you upload something in social networks it is forever and you
cannot request any rights if you have given your consent when you signed up.
What I mean is that it is not as easy as she said about taking precautions.
In addition, I felt
uncomfortable when she said "nobody should download a Russian antivirus,
because we shouldn’t trust" because it is a great stereotype. I agree that
we have to fight for our rights but not indoctrinate people to hate other
people.
On the other hand, I
really enjoyed hearing American accent because I love it and I think it is very
positive to students that are studying a language to listen. I reckon it's very
easy to learn if you have fun.
In conclusion, although
I disagree with her thoughts, I think she was very kind, I learned and improved
my English with an entertaining activity.
