ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE
The ice
bucket challenge is an activity that consists of throwing a bucket of ice water
on someone’s head to encourage donations to research for an illness called ALS.
This challenge is really famous over the world because all the socials media
are full of videos of people doing it and nominating other people.
As we know,
a lot of famous people have done the challenge and most of them have donated a
lot of money for the foundation. This is helping a lot to find a cure for the illness.
In English
class we have watched how kids react to this challenge. Most of them knew about
it or at least they have seen some famous people doing it. But some of them
didn’t know why they throw a bucket of ice water and they thought it was just
for fun. The kids threw themselves a bucket of ice water and the program
donated $100 for each kid.
In my
opinion this challenge is helping a lot of people and thanks to all the people
that have donated money, sick people will cure.
But there
are also people who just do it for fun without donating. Let’s see, the
challenge was created for donating money and if they don’t donate, it is
pointless. There are a lot of complaints about people who don’t donate and I think
it is unfair and selfish to do it without helping people.
A lot of people that I look up to have updated
a video of themselves in Instagram doing the challenge and it was really fun to
watch.
I was
nominated by a close friend but I haven’t done it yet. Gaby, the girl I am doing the USA exchange
with, has done the challenge and she has donated money.
In
conclusion, I think this is the best way of collecting money for a research
because a lot of people can do it, from the youngest to the oldest. It is
really funny and refreshing and it’s the best way of make people know about the
illness.
