USA Exchange October 2016
First of all, I think it is fair to say that we
will never forget this wonderful experience. I had been really nervous before
the departure of the plane and excited to meet our exchange students too.
When we arrived, the Americans were waiting for
us with a huge welcoming placard. That evening we cheered the football school
team although we were standing there like zombies because of the six hours jet
lag and the nine hours flight.
Over Saturday, Gavi, my partner, her friends
and I enjoyed a football match in the University of Maryland campus. Then, I
carved a pumpkin for the very first time and they were surprised that I had
never done their Halloween tradition. Next day, there was a barbecue in Gavi’s
house for all of the participants in this exchange.
During the week, we attended our partners’
lessons and Maria, Anna, Clara and me saw Kaylen, Sophia and Gavi practising Poms.
Some teachers showed us their huge and wonderful high school. We also visited
Washington D.C. and Baltimore where the monuments, the museums and the aquarium
were really interesting and curious. After our partners had finished their
exams on Wednesday, they took us to a Ferris wheel in the National Harbour
which was quite high and where we could appreciate the skyline view of the city.
On Friday evening, we went to Field of Screams which was haunted houses with
terrific actors scaring us. Later, we ate s’mores cooked in the bound fire.
If you could not tell from the above, we had so much fun and learnt from
America and its people. Now, we cannot wait for them to come (some of us cried
a little bit saying goodbye after those amazing ten days). So, we are looking
forward to meeting again in Barcelona and repeat the experience with our new
American friends.
