A friend
If you look for the word “friend” in
an English dictionary you will find this definition below, “closely regarded
person”. It means that a friend is a considered person who you can trust in. In
fact, the dictionary is right but normally a friend is more than a confident
person.
A friend, of course, is a very close
person to you, reliable, tolerant, and resourceful. He or she should be
sensible and helpful with you when you have a problem. The attitude of a real
good friend mustn’t be selfish or hesitant with you.
In literature, in almost of the books in the world we can appreciate different types of friends. Personally, if I
have to choose a couple of them, I will choose two boys, Bruno and Shmuel. Both
are the main characters of the novel, “The boy in the striped pyjamas” whose
author is John Boyne.
Bruno is German and he had lived in
Berlin before his family moved near a Nazi concentration camp, because of his
father’s job. Moreover, Shmuel is a Jew, and he with his family had to go,
obliged, to a concentration camp in Auschwitz. Both are innocent children,
without prejudices, racism and religion discrimination. They saw each other for
the first time on this concentration camp, Bruno was outside playing with his
ball and Shmuel was inside, sitting on the dirty floor. He was lonely and
upset, because he had lost his family. Bruno tried to cheer him up, and they
became good friends. Sadly, the final of this pretty and dreamer friendship is
not quite passionate like the beginning.
