Easter
holidays
These holidays, as always, I had planned to do
a lot of things like reading a book, going to the gym or even revising the content of
different subjects, but as you can imagine I haven’t done anything.
The first four days I stayed at home doing nothing
more than chilling except on Saturday that I played an American football match
that obviously my team won. The rest of the days until Thursday as I said I
didn’t do anything.
The interesting part of my holidays started on
Thursday early in the morning. This day at 6:00a.m my family and I caught a fly
to go to Rome. We got there at half past eight. After a long hour travelling by
car to get to the hotel, we decided to take this day as a free visiting day. We
took advantage of fact that we hadn’t had any guided visit to visit ourselves
the Fontana di Trevi where we threw a lot of coins just for fun, but we also
took some incredible and beautiful photos of each other.
We aslo
visited the Pantheon and a very beautiful square called Piazza Navona. This last
one is the core of the city where a lot of Romans meet since a long time ago.
All of these places were visited in the morning so after having lunch, which
was Bruschettes, pizzas and Caprese salad, we went to the hotel for a break. In
the evening we visited a very cute neighborhood called Trastévere it looks like
the Born in Barcelona. This was an exhausting day so we decided to go to sleep
early.
The next
day we had to wake up very early too because we were visiting Vatican City at
the first turn in the morning but the visit was worth. You can see this place
in movies or photographs but when you are in it is very different. It is huge;
the Sistine Chapel is a bit disappointing because you imagine it’s very
luxurious but it is a bit small and paintings are very concentrated, but these
ones are impressive too. I have nothing to say about basilica of Saint Peter.
It’s impressive, beautiful and very big. Saint Peter’s square is not
disappointing too, with all that statues around it, with the obelisk in the
middle and the basilica at the back. The visit was about three hours long.
We did
the same that we did in the previous day; we went to have lunch and to take a
break after the visit. In the evening we went to visit the Fontana di Trevi
illuminated and the Pantheon too. We walked around the area of Pantheon looking
for a place to sit and have dinner. Instead we found a Lindt shop so we decided
to buy some chocolate and near that shop we finally seated in a restaurant. As
you can imagine this day was so exhausting too so we again decided to go to
sleep early.
The last
full day was Saturday. We woke up later than the other days just to rest a bit
more. We had a free morning that we spent visiting baths of Caracalla. This is
a very huge “building” and beautiful. Obviously it’s not completed but you can
imagine how it was.
After visiting
these ruins we went to the Colosseum to start another three hours of visit. We
visited Colosseum; of course, we also visited mount Palatino, which was where
all emperors built their palaces and all ruins of the old squares.
And
finally I came back on Sunday, against my wishes of staying in Rome to live
there. In conclusion Rome is a very beautiful place, with very nice people and
services and an ambient of hospitality.
