Italy, a trip to remember

When people talk about Italy, think of a European city, not very big, whose capital is Rome. In my case, not only do I think it, but I also give me special memories. Classmates, teachers and I, were going to spend an unforgettable trip visiting many different places of Italy during 9 days. Despite the cultural character of the trip, also it has helped us get to know people. That is one of the things I liked most of this trip. I’m going to explain some curiosities about every place we have visited, trying to explain outstanding things, because it’s difficult to explain all the experiences we have lived in only a few lines.

The expected trip began a 23^rd of March. Our first parade was Pissa. There, we could take the typical photo holding the Tower of Pissa. That afternoon we also visited the city of Lucca where we could contemplate the wonderful environment and futhermore, we could ride a bike during a short period of time. I can not tell much about this day since I was very tired after spending nearly 14 hours sitting in a bus a bit uncomfortable. Judit, my colleague, and I spent the endless hours singing in a Sing Star that a classmate had brought.  

Our second stop was Firenze where we had the first hotel we settled. What can I say about Firenze…? Just amazing. Firenze is one of the places that have more history and culture. Rialto Bridge, Duomo (the cathedral), “Plaza de la Señoría”, are only some examples. There, I could test which is considered the best ice-cream of the world and it was true, it was really delicious.

San Gimignano was another place we could visit. It was a village where we can enjoy the usual environment of “la Toscana”. It wasn’t the place I liked most, but it was nice.

Then, we visited Siena. What I liked most of Siena was their campanile. Only some of us could enjoy their wonderful views. It was well worth. That day I ate the most delicious pizza of the trip. After that, we went to Padova. In Padova we visited the Saint Antoni church which it was not very nice from the outside and it blow my mind when I entered inside. There, I took a cappuccino with fantastic classmates.

And this time travelling by vaporetto, we arrived in Venice. There wasn’t other place that I liked more than Venice. I absolutely loved travelling by gondola enjoying which, for me, was the best place visited. There I took uncountable photos, I walked looking for the only McDonalds in Venice because a friend wanted to have lunch there, and I paid my first fine because I spent 5 minutes looking for a clip which I actually had inside my pocket.

Also travelling by vaporetto, we could visit Burano and Murano. In the first one I saw their colourful houses, I love them. I would like to live in a house painted like them. In the second one, Murano, I went shopping. I loved the famous murano glass, so I bought many different things to give to my family.

Our last day, we visited Verona and Milano. In the first one, we could see their fantastic amphitheater and we had a walk there. We also visited Milano which I don’t know if it’s because I was so tired, but it was the city I liked less. There, I could see their Duomo which is amazing, but the rest of the city haven’t got the charm of other cities such as Firenze or Venice. There, I carried out last shopping and we went to the bus in direction to Barcelona.

MADRID, AN UNFORGETTABLE TRIP

From the 25^th to 28^th of March, the JMJ students of 4^th ESO went to Madrid. We started our trip at 5:45 a.m, when we left the school in two buses.

During the route there were school friends who were sleeping, some who were listening to music, or some who were watching films using their Ipods.

I was sitting next to my friend Albert Gurrea, and during the 8 hours we watched two films: Zombieland and Ali-G, and we listened to a lot of music.

We arrived in Madrid at two o’clock. The buses parked next to Plaza Oriente and there we had our lunch. I had my lunch with my friends in Los Jardines del Moro. We had 2 hours to have lunch and walk around the zone and then went for a walk with our teachers. We went to emblematic places in the city, such as Plaza Mayor, Plaza del Sol, La Catedral del Almudena, El Castillo Real, La Puerta de Alcalá and La Cibeles.

Then we arrived at our residence, the school Padre Mañanet de Alcobendas. My roommates were Anna Pérez and Mireia Braza. We lived really great and funny moments there! For example, while in the other rooms girls were having a shower, Mireia, Anna and me (and then Cristina and Eulàlia) were singing and dancing and recording it!!!

The second day we went to El Retiro’s park and to Museo El Prado. El Retiro was aamazing, and El Prado the best musem that I have visited.

After it we had 4 hours to have lunch and to make out Projecte de Recerca. I had a “Bocata de Calamares” in Plaza Mayor, it was delicious!!! Then my group of PR went to Gran Via to make some photos for our work.

We returned to the residence and we went early to bed, because the next day we’d get up at half past seven.

The third day we visited El Escorial (an extraordinary Royal palace) and we went to Segovia. In Segovia many of us had  “cochinillo” for lunch.

Before this trip I had gone to Segovia, and this second time the aqueduct shocked me as the first time!

The last day we packed and we went to Alcalá de Henares. There the PR groups took some photos of the typical places of the village (the house where Cervantes was born, the University, the major, La Puerta de Madrid…). We returned to the bus, and we went to Zaragoza. In Zaragoza we visited La Catedral del Pilar very quickly and we finally took the road to Barcelona. We arrived at our city at half past eleven.

This trip was unforgettable. We visited many amazing places, but I think that the most important things are the fantastic experiences that we lived these four days.

My school trip to Madrid

I can’t get enough words to explain what I did in Madrid. I couldn’t imagine how this beautiful city would be. Its architecture, people, food, parks, music, art… Everything you need you’ll find it in Madrid.  And I could enjoy it with my  classmates.

Well, I left Barcelona at 5.00 o’clock. At first I thought it would be boring, but instead of sleeping and listening to music all trip long I chatted with my friends, and told jokes to each other. We even made a Nintendo’s championship. We got in Madrid at 2 o’clock and we went to have dinner in a park near  Orient Palace. After having dinner we crossed Madrid to go to The Sun’s square, and we took the bus there to go to the school we slept in. Once we were settled  we had dinner and then we played games in the ground.  Along the next days we visited the Prado’s Museum, El Escorial and Zaragoza. But the best thing I did was when I rented a bark in the Retiro’s Park with some friends and tried  to crash into the other barks. I nearly fell into the water! Coming back to Barcelona our bus started to do some strange movements and obviously it got break. Thanks God we were near Barcelona and we only had to wait for 45 minutes.

So this trip is going to be unforgettable and I hope the next generations can enjoy it too.

My school trip to Madrid           

In March I went to Madrid with my course. We spent there 4 great days doing a school trip. We visited Madrid, Alcalá de Henares, Segovia, El Escorial... It was amazing!

In Madrid we saw Cibeles, La puerta del sol with El oso y el madroño, La plaza mayor... we also met Toni Moog, a humorist.

When we went to Segovia, my friends and I wanted to eat cochinillo but it was expensive, so we finally ate fried eggs, spanish omelet or sandwiches. We saw the aqueduct. It was high and big, and we liked it!

I also liked the Escorial, because we could see some interesting paintings, the bed where the king died, the king and queen’s tombs...

I really loved Prado’s museum: the paintings were awesome! The painting that I liked most was ‘’El jardín de las delícias’’. In Madrid we went to El Retiro, a big and wonderful park. In the free time on Monday, I went there with my PR group and we got on a rowboat... It was really funny!

I think we all loved this trip and it made us be closer.

My school trip to Madrid

My school trip to Madrid was fantastic. The three classes of 4t ESO went to Madrid and we stayed there for four days.

The trip began at 6 a.m. when we got into the bus. Everybody was excited during the journey which takes more or less 8 hours because we had to stop every two hours.

We had a lot of time to talk, watch movies in the Ipod and listen to a lot of music until you became deaf. Some people were also sleeping.

When we arrived at 14:00 h we had lunch and then we made a walk around place Cibeles, the Gran Via, place Sol etc.

During the rest of days we visited: Segovia, Alcalá de Henares, Zaragoza and the historic part of Madrid.

In Madrid we visited the Prado, which I like a lot. There were a lot of paintings that I enjoyed as “La condesa de Vilches” and “Las Meninas”. It was fascinating seeing how some boys who seem that they will get bored, there became interested in the pictures. We also went to El Escorial and to the Alcázar in Segovia where we climbed 200 stairs to see magnificent landscapes.

I think it was a beautiful experience that made us see a lot of culture and forced us to be self-sufficient with our money and our meals.

Definitely, going to Madrid was an unforgettable experience.

CATALANS IN MADRID

From my point of view, this journey has been the best trip, at least until the moment. On the one hand, because it has been the furthest. And on the other hand, we have gone with our friends, so we have been living together during exactly four days. Now, I will explain you about this great experience (what we did; where we ate and slept; or how  we went to the places, on foot, in public transport…)

Firstly, the residence where we stayed in Alcobendas is OK, so that’s a posh area. In fact, I knew that it was a rich zone, although I believed that we would be in a worse school, so I was surprised by the rooms. In spite of that, I didn’t love the food.

Secondly, we had to walk when we wanted to go to another monument or museum. If you want to visit whatever, either a capital or a town, you will have to walk. This is the best form to know a city.

Talking about cities, Madrid is a touristic city. The Spanish capital is very clean and there are districts like “El Barrio de las Musas” where the architecture is well kept. We visited El Escorial, Prado, Plaza Mayor, Palacio Real, Parque del Retiro, Plaza del Sol, Santiago Bernabéu, Almudena, Segovia and more. However, we couldn’t see Reina Sofía, so we couldn’t see Guernica. What a pity!

Personally, I think that this experience will be in our memories for all our life. In my opinion, we have learnt what’s to be independent and what’s to live alone. To sum up, I enjoyed a lot in Madrid.

ITALY 2012 (an experience not to be missed)

Dear diary,

Everything is ready to begin what will be the best travel of our lives, suitcases are in the coach, there are a few who take advantage of the last moments to kiss their parents, the guide who accompanies has already been presented to us, and I’m sitting here, next to Ariadna, waiting impatiently to boot the bus.

23/03/2012: Excitement! We have left the school and we are heading to Italy.

24/03/2012: After a long night, we have reached our first stop in Italy, Pisa. Among ten or eleven o’clock we could see Pisa with our own eyes, incredible, how can it maintained without falling? We have visited the Duomo and the Baptistery and we have taken advantage of some free time to relax on the grass. After a few photos we have taken the bus again to go to Lucca, there we discover the village but not by walk, by tandem! Extremely funny! Now we are ready to go to sleep, so good night dear diary.

25/03/2012: Come on! Get up! The first words I have heard today… After breakfast we have gone to Uffizi Galleria and we have walked through the streets. We have gone to the Campanile; Florence from the heights is amazing. We have seen l’Academia, Santa Croce, the Ponte Vecchio… It has been an exhausting day, but very interesting too. After dinner, a ride at night, a huge ice-cream and a few minutes to talk with my roommates I really need to go to sleep.

26/03/2012: we are very lucky, the sun is shining every day, and there are no clouds in the sky for the moment! Today we could enjoy stunning views in San Gimignano and a quiet stay in Siena. Now we are in the hotel, making the storage because tomorrow we will leave the Toscana to go to Venice. I am very exciting to go there, I really love Venice, its canals, its streets… Ah! I almost forget it, in San Gimignano we have seen the Torture museum it has been a bit disgusting but interesting and funny too.

27/03/2012: I have been writing this for second time today; I’ve just post in the blog with Clàudia and Judit. Today we have done a lot of kilometres by bus and we also have visited Padua. When we have arrived in Padua we have visited the basilica de Sant Antoni and the chapel Scrovegni. It has been a short visit because we had a lot of kilometres to do until the Lido where it is the second hotel. Today we had about 1 hour to go for a walk, I have gone to the beach. We have been able to see the stars in the sky, long time since I could see a sky like this; it has been an hour to relax and to talk with my friends.

29/03/2012: I had no time yesterday to write what we did so I sum up; we visited Venice, we went to the Campanille, to the bridge Rialto, we visited Venice by walk and by Vaporeto. We could join the narrow streets on a gondola… At night some people could go to a disco near the hotel whereas other people prefer to go to the beach. I went to the disco, it was absolutely incredible! It was very funny.

Today we have visited Burano, Murano and Venice. Murano is thought to be the house of glass, it is beautiful but I prefer Burano, a little village where the houses are painted in very alive colours. Now I am dressing to go with all my friends to the disco again, I am very happy because we go all together.

30/03/2012: Today we have visited Verona, Juliet’s house and the Arena. In the afternoon we have gone to Milan. There, some people have gone to San Siro, while the others had walked through the streets searching for the last purchase. When we were eating we have given our personal present to Dani, our guide. He has been our guide and moreover our reference, our photographer teacher, and the most important thing: our friend! He couldn’t return to Barcelona without a small detail and something to remember us and the journey we have shared together.

And now we are on the bus back to Barcelona. Here I can breathe sadness and nostalgia; nobody wants to come back... It has been absolutely incredible. But everything ends.  

31/03/2012:

12:30: After a night of no sleep we are arriving in Barcelona.

And now, I am here remembering all moments, every minute I have spent there, every laugh, every kiss and hug I give and I received, the sun, the monuments, the people, the incredible guide we had, the night and the parties, every photo we took, every step we did... “Wayfarer there is no way way is done on having walked. And on having gone the sight back sees the path on that it never has to return to tread.”

I am nostalgic, many months waiting for it, and it has passed yet. But nobody can stop the time, so I only can say that I’m very lucky to share those days with my classmates, this trip had let me talk with more people, to meet new friends, and to increase the confidence with which I got on well before going to Italy. 

I am sure that this incredible, amazing, spectacular experience will be in my memory until my last day.
