I’m
going to talk about a big question very
difficult to answer: Which is better, the book or the film?
Can it be successful
for writers making films of the books? I mean most people
prefer looking forward to seeing the film before reading those books.
Has that bad consequences? Yes, of course. Those
people who prefer reading boooks, prefer being part of the novel, live all the lines that the novelist writes, feel the feelings, laugh, cry…but the most important of reading a book is that you could imagine all the characters even if is the fact there’s a description of them.
That’s the biggest essence of books.
The fact is that most
of peoople now are going to see the
film instead of reading the book. Moreeover, most people would say that they disagree with that. They prefer to feel the visual and sound effects instead of imagining.
Those people who prefer watching a film don’t mind feeling the piece of paper, getting lost on the leaves that a reader felt in every line. They prefer visual things, those things which you can perceive by sight or ear. It’s totally respectable, because many adaptations
are made well.
For instance, there are numerous examples of this, like the
Twilight saga or Harry Potter’s books, Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Lord of the flies...
But making films of books means that most of people would stop reading.
What would you
prefer, reading, imaginiing and building the whole story by a book or waiting for the premier of the film based on your
favorite book?
I still think that reading a book is magic. It is like travelling in your own world, with one luggage, your imagination.
