Game
Over
On
Wednesday afternoon a man from Institut Guttman came to give us a speech on road
traffic accidents and being under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
We
watched a video which clearing illustrated how car accidents can happen. It was
a truly eye open experience. As the speech was in Catalan I did not know
exactly what it was about but just from the passion in which this man spoke
with and that he was in wheelchair I could get a sense that he had been in some
kind of traffic accident.
Road
traffic accidents happen frequently and hear about the on the news that we have almost become immune to them. These
days people do not value one person’s life if they are not related to them as
they do not know about the traumatic
experience that the family affected is going
through.
I
believe that because of peer pressure and how kids today abuse alcohol and
other dangerous substance this has also
caused a spike in road traffic accidents.
People
don’t realise what can happen until it has taken place as they almost feel
immortal after having a few drinks .
This is why I think schools should continue
informing students of the risks involved with taking alcohol, drugs and drink
driving using shocking and eye opening approaches such as the one my fellow
students and I experienced this week.
