ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE – WHAT I THINK ABOUT
There’re lots of opinions about that campaign, on one hand somebody says that’s a good way to promote the challenge because it’s funny and most of the people who participate, share the video on Facebook, YouTube and the rest of the social networks, so very quickly it spreads to new people that don’t know it yet. However, the most important, it’s not doing the challenge, it’s donating money to help charity, and here is the dilemma.
It’s a simple teenager challenge or it’s a part of a campaign a bit “funny”? Well… it’s not funny at all, it’s a very serious illness and topic, although they want to share it with everybody, so they invent that challenge that’s different and why not to say grace and of course refreshing! On the other hand some people think that’s an absurd spend, there’re a lot of people in Africa that don’t have water, and they have to walk around ten kilometres to take potable water and even sometimes it’s not! So tonnes of water have been spilled uselessly? Well… yes of course is a fact and you can’t negate it, but I think that we have contributed more doing that challenge than wasting water. When we take a shower, we spend more water than we should, also we don’t turn off the PC, TV, the lights… I mean, I don’t agree with that people who say it, of course they’re right, it’s obvious, but you shouldn’t see it as a stupid spend. In my opinion, it’s a good campaign, actually all charity is OK, of course! You’re free to do what you want: you can donate if you want, you can burn a paper, you can keep your money… What you want! It’s not compulsory to donate money and if you don’t want to donate and do the challenge… do it, you are absolutely free.
I haven’t been nominated, so I haven’t done the ice bucket challenge yet, but next summer, I promise that I’ll do it and I’ll donate a bit of money to that awesome association that helps people with ALS.
The ice bucket challenge is a good way to contribute to charity and it’s funny! I encourage everybody to do it and donate a bit of money to help the people who suffer the illness.
