New Government in Catalonia Looks to Speed up Secession From Spain
Catalonia is back on track towards independence from
Spain after an unknown mayor was elected as the new president. This brings to Catalan
independent people a hope for the Independence.
Carles Puigdemont was elected after several
discussions and treats between “Junts pel Sí”, the clearly winner of the
elections, and the other independent partite, “CUP”.The starting problem was
that La Cup didn’t want Arthur Mas as the president of the new government to
lead Catalonia to the Independence, cause they say he is a corrupt politician
because the problem of the P. family. And because of the ideology of both
parties.
This new government is the starting point of the break
between Catalonia and Spain, whose government has positioned himself against
it. For example, the actual president of Spain M. R. said that “The
Spaniards can rest assured. The state has the instruments to guarantee the
unity of Spain and the compliance with the law."
In my opinión it would be great for the Catalan people
to be independent because we would increase our economy and keep our culture
and national identity.
