Catalonia in the last few weeks 

In the last few weeks, Catalonia has had an uncertain future, because there was no President in the Generalitat. It all started when the elections were to choose new President in the Generalitat. The result was not expected, that is, the political party Junts pel sí didn’t get the majority to be able to govern. Then Junts pel sí had to negotiate with another party to be able to govern, that party was the CUP.

The CUP , at first, didn’t put it all easy, indeed, they said he would not negotiate with Junts pel sí because then the President would be Artur Mas and didn’t want it. Then a meeting was made with all the members of the CUP and after much talking, they decided that they would support Junts pel sí, if the President wasn’t Artur Mas.

Finally after much talk and debate, Junts pel sí reached an agreement with the CUP and decided that the new President of the Generalitat was Carles Puigdemont, current Mayor of Girona. Then from January 11, Carles Puigdemont is the new President of the Generalitat of Catalonia.
