Life in 3012 Maria M. (2nd batx A)

It is 3012. What is the world like?

It is 3012. People can’t leave their home unless they have been given an official certificate from the health service. They must be health – meaning that they can’t have any type of virus. That happened once a long time ago, when in 2020 people couldn’t leave their homes neither because of coronavirus spreading. Now they may be feeling the same: like they can’t do anything, and they ought to stay safe at home, without knowing if it can be a real solution to the pandemic. The pandemic couldn’t have been avoided once it had started.

So, what should happen to education? If you must stay home, children can’t go to school, children can’t attend their lessons… or can they do it? It is 3012. All kind of technologies must have been invented, such as being able to telework for both teachers and children. And for helping the littlest, who can’t have learnt how to use this kind of system, parents are allowed to stay home too and being able to receive their wage taking into account that they must take care of their children’s education. Everything couldn’t have been achieved without the greatest of organizations from the Government.

And so have improved cities their security: now you must scan your fingerprint to enter any place, as well as you may decide to lock your house with your face. You don’t have to use your face. In fact, you can still use passcodes, but they aren’t as efficient as using your face. Although they are a crazy invention, they need to program tough to start to lock doors. You needn’t do this, but you can have your home disinfected when you leave it, even if there’s no pandemic out there. It’s a super intelligent technology that knows everything about your life: if you should buy new products, if you ought to sleep more, if you can go to the bathroom or if there’s someone in…

Means of transport are really different now. During seasons of pandemics, everyone must use their own car, one delivered by the Government. You can’t have a car during the rest of the year, because you must take public transport which is free to everybody. Your cars must be automatic to be allowed to drive along any place. If your driver-license expires, even though a car is automatic, you ought to renew it, but if you only travel in your local town, you don’t need to renew it. However, there’s a limit on the number of kilometers you can do: you can’t pass 100 kilometers a day unless you’ve got a license, which you can ask via an app on your phone.

As you can see, life looks totally renewed today, but there’s something that keeps and will keep happening. You must die. No one lives forever. So… how the hell am I writing this in 3012, if I was born in 2002? I could survive to coronavirus and yet here I am! Never ever dying? That’s because legends can’t die!
