TED TALK: How to speak so that people want to listen. Sandra S. (2n batx A)

We always try to get people’s attention while we’re speaking, but it isn’t always that easy. From my point of view, it’s such a difficult task making people listen to you, because your voice, your body language and the surrounding are elements which make people get distracted.
Firstly, I really enjoyed the way Julian Treasure made the Ted Talk. He has been clear composing a list with everything you need to avoid in order to make people listen to you. For instance gossip, judge, negativity, complaining, excuses, lying and dogmatism are items you should keep away from your speech if you want to get people’s attention.
Moreover, honesty, authenticity, integrity and love are the most important values and I completely agree with the speaker. At the end of the talk, he shows an exercise that he does everytime he speaks in public, highlighting how important are body and voice movements if you want to achieve the goal of getting attention. I think I’m going to start doing this exercise before speaking in public, let’s see if it works.
