ONE HUNDREDTH OF A SECOND. Guillem Ll. (2n batx A)

ONE HUNDREDTH OF A SECOND

It seemed that she had been asleep for ages. But, then, she was totally awake. In one hundredth of a second, everything is possible.
Since Kate had lost the faith, there was a hole in her soul. She had been living in the darkness kingdom; she had been a part of shadows. Hope had been her strength, but then it became her weakness.
Every night of her life, Kate would be thinking about that girl. Should she have been able to sleep, she would have appeared in her dreams. Should she have dreamt, her dreams would have been converted into nightmares.
Maybe if she had known it before, she would have changed it. She did not understand it then, but all her life was a part of that girl’s. A part of nothing.
Sometimes Kate asked herself if she was not dreaming. But every time she thought about the girl she was reminded an horror tale, a ship into a storm, a lost hope. That girl was a path to find, a way to follow. She was a door to nothing.
As books have an epilogue, all lives have an end. Hers was not an exception. When she lied on the ground, dead, Kate could have sworn she had done all she was able to. At the end, she was supposed to do only her job. However, she would feel devastated until the mountains came sea, until the world became a big mass of nothing.
Day and night were the same in Kate’s mind. Time passed around her. But she would not believe anymore. She would not believe in humans, in peace. She would not rely on anyone else than her.
The story finished there, because it would have been unfair to continue without her. The rest would be, as everything, the result of imagination, of dreams.
Since Kate had lost the faith, there was a hole in her soul. A broken heart is not easy to heal. An empty one is not easy to fill.
