USA EXCHANGE. Mario O. (1 BTX A)

MY WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE IN MARYLAND

Day 1- Friday (14/10/16)

Today I woke up very early because we had to be at the airport very early. After we arrived, we took the plane to Dulles International Airport. Although there were some screens to play games, watch movies and listen to music, the flight was very boring because it was so long. At the moment we arrived, we took a scholar bus that drove us to Good Counsel College to meet our partners (mine was Kyle). Later, at 8 PM, we saw a Football game between the Falcons (Good Counsel team) and another team that I don’t remember the name. And finally, Kyle drove me to his house to meet the whole family.

Day 2- Saturday (15/10/16)

On my second day, we did something that I wasn’t expecting at all. Kyle and his father took me to an event called Cars & Coffee. In this event some people showed their cars and they allowed you to take photos if you wanted. Later, we went home to relax a little bit and take a shower because it was very hot that day. In the afternoon, Kyle was doing his homework meanwhile I was watching TV in English (to learn a little bit more of English). At night, we went to dinner to a Thai restaurant located in the urban center of Rockville.

Day 3- Sunday (16/10/16)

This day all the family and I went to Washington DC. We woke up very early to try to enjoy the day as most as we could. Kyle drove us to the metro station and, when we arrived, we took a metro. After 1 hour in the metro, we finally arrived to Washington DC and the first monument we visited was the Washington monument.

After that, we decided to go to the White House to see it from outside. It was pretty interesting, but the most interesting part was the fact that we saw 3 helicopters flying all together
(we thought that it could probably be Obama in one of them).

Next, we went to the Lincoln Memorial to see the monument and the incredible views of the Washington Monument reflected in the water. And finally, we entered to a park next to the monuments to see some sculptures of a war. After all this, we took the same metro to return home and have dinner there.

And by the end of the day, Gave (Anna Xiu’s partner) invited all of us to a party at her house. The house was really big and had a swimming pool and a hot tub that we enjoyed it a lot. Around 11 PM, we returned to our home.

Day 4- Monday (17/10/16)

This day was very special because it was the first time for all the exchange students to see the school from inside. As always, Kyle drove me to the school and, after that, we went to a physics exam (I was with my IPad all the class because I didn’t know what to do). After the exam, Kyle had Religion class and later, English class. But during the class, the bell rang because it was lunch time.

After lunch, we continued with the English class. Finally, we went to another class that I don’t remember what was it about (the only thing that I remember is that it was funny).

After school, Kyle’s dad took us to a place called Elevation Burger that was delicious.

Day 5- Tuesday (18/10/16)

On my 5th day, all the exchange students went to Washington DC (my second time) to saw the monuments there. We saw the Washington Monument and the Abraham Lincoln Memorial. After visit the monuments, we had lunch in a restaurant called CHIPOTLE’S. After having lunch, we spent the rest of the time going to stores and buying things (I bought a Waffle Maker Machine and some sweets). In the afternoon, we returned to Gave’s house to enjoy some pizza and return to the swimming pool.

Day 6- Wednesday (19/10/16)

This day was a little bit strange, because some of the exchange students went to school but others stayed at home. In the afternoon, we all went to National Harbor to see the Wheel. First, we had dinner in an Italian restaurant, and later, we walked a little bit.

And finishing the day, we rode in the Wheel to enjoy the awesome views you could see from the top (also, there were lots of screams of scared people because the Wheel moved a lot).

Day 7- Thursday (20/10/16)

This was a very waited day for most of us, because it was the day of the Aquarium visit. As always, a school bus drove us to Baltimore and then we went directly to the Aquarium. It was very big and there were lots of different animals like dolphins and penguins. We did lots of things, for example, go to a dolphins show and then see jellyfish.

After the visit to the Aquarium, we had lunch and then, we went to a shopping mall located very near from the aquarium. And by the night, most of us went to a thing called Laser Tag, that was like a gun battle with lasers.

Day 8- Friday (21/10/16)

On Friday, we returned to Washington to see some museums. Firstly, we decided to go to the Smithsonian museum, where we saw some things about the American Indian culture. Later, we went to the Space and Air museum, and it was the best one for me.

After the museums, some of us went to a supermarket to buy some food for the bus. Then, we returned to the school to see our partners. By the night, we went to the Field of Screams to get scared. This was like a little walk in the forest while several people scared you. Finally, Kyle and I spent the night at Ethan’s house
(Abel’s partner)

Day 9- Saturday (22/10/16)

On Saturday my family, Laura and Laura’s partner went to a pumpkin patch to grab some pumpkins and enjoy hot food like doughnuts and coffee. Kyle and I caught a very big pumpkin that we would use to decorate the house.

Day 10- Sunday (23/10/16)

This was the day I was waiting the most because it was the day we went to New York City. I went with Abel, Laura and their partners. We saw different things like Times Squares and Central Park. In Times Squares, we spent most of the time visiting shops and looking at all of the screens.

Later, we went to Central Park to have lunch there and relax a little bit. Finally, we returned to Times Squares to take a train to return home. One of my best experiences!

Day 11- Monday (24/10/16)

This was our last day in Maryland. I woke up very early as always to go to school. At the moment we arrived, I left my luggage in a room and then I went with Kyle because he had an exam. After 3 hours, all the exchange students and their partners met at the entrance of the school to say goodbye to everybody. Lot of people were crying because it was the most difficult part of the trip.

Day 12- Tuesday (25/10/16)

After a long trip, we arrived in Barcelona

As you can see, this trip has been one of the best things I have ever done in my life and I miss everybody a lot. But fortunately, they will come to Barcelona and we will see everybody again. So, that’s all I can say by now.

THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION!!!
