USA EXCHANGE. OUR EXPERIENCE. LLuís E. (1r batx A)

My experience in USA

All started on Saturday morning in the airport when all the students from JMJ came, everyone was very excited. I had never flown before that time, so I was very excited, but I would never have imagined that those days in USA would  be some of the most important in my life.

After a tiring journey from Spain to England and then to USA, we arrived at Washington D.C. at night, where there were all our host-families waiting for us with a lot of posters that said Welcome to America and our name. After that, we went to Maryland where our host families live.

The next day was the beginning of a great relation among all of us, we met on Sunday afternoon at Julia's house, the American girl who was with Núria Julià, and there, we did a barbeque. We had a lot of fun.

Some days we went to school, Good Counsel, which is enormous and everybody was very friendly with us, we were very happy with them too. We got lost there when we were alone. After classes, almost all the students. boys and girls, start their practices such as football, soccer, lacrosse, basketball, etc.

During  the week, we did some trips to Washington D.C. and we could visited Smithsonian Museum and  the museum where the film One night in the museum was recorded.

Unfortunately, during the second weekend there was the famous Sandy hurricane at USA, luckily for us it didn't affect us, but we had to be at home. It was so boring but I learnt how to cook pun cakes.

We also did trips to Inner Harbor-Aquarium  and Great Falls which is a beautiful place with a wonderful nature. As all the travels, we also wanted to go shopping, so we visited the Pentagon City Mall a big shopping centre like La Maquinista, and Union Station which is a famous station where there are a lot of souvenirs shops from USA.

The day before we came back, we celebrated the famous and traditional festival called Halloween, everybody dressed up a costume, in my case I was a nerd. It was so funny.

Apart from the schedules, we were very impressed with their lifestyle because it's very different. They eat a lot for breakfast, but then they only have 20 minutes to have lunch, so it's a bit stressed.

The worst part of the trip was, undoubtedly, the last day. Everybody was very sad because we didn't want to come back to Spain. We also were sad because maybe we won't see our host-families again and it's not funny.

But to sum up, we have lived an amazing experience that not everybody can have, so I'm very happy for it. I will never forget this experience and all the people who made this possible like our headmaster Pare Taulats.
