source
The film that I recomend to you is “The source” and it's
original name is “La Source des femmes” in French. It was directed by Radu
Mihaileanu and performed in 2011.
First of all, what does it talk about? It's about a group of
women that live in a village in North Africa, where there doesn't arrive the bulk
flow of water. They see themselves forced to carry the water from a hill to the
village for everyone, and because of the tradition, no one helps them.
They
suffer continuos miscarriages and they're always very exhausted.
The fact
remains that one of those women, Leia, has an idea that can change those
woman's world. She encourages the rest to
do a sex strike still the men found a solution to carry the water from the
hill. The strike is hard and cruel, and some women don't want to participate
because of fear, but it continues.
This is an instroduction and I won't tell
you anything else not to spoil you in the case you decide to watch the
movie.
And why do I recomend it to you? Because I found that it is
really interesting. It is not commercial, and sometimes, it is hard to see without
looking away because it's a cruel reality. It takes part of the other people's
misfortune that we don't want to see, we don't want pain to take part of our
lives. We use to avert the eyes to every panhandler that we cross the street
with. This movie is about women and the discrimination they suffer. It is
full of hope and willpower to change the injustices of our world.
