I’m going to write about which is better, the book or the film. I start giving
some examples of books made into films, there are numerous examples; Charlie
and the Chocolate Factory, The
Chronicles of Narnia, Alice in
Wonderland, The silence of the lambs…
all of them known around the world for being bestsellers and made into films. There
are a lot of books made into films, but if I say all the names, I won’t never
end.
A person
who prefers to read the book; it’s probable because in the books
it’s all more detailed, I mean
things that in the films the viewer probably doesn’t see or doesn’t observe,
but in the books, the reader must read all the lines, as it would be absurd not
to read some lines. However, although the books are more detailed, it always
lets the reader be imaginative, because he never sees the images, the places,
the people… The fact is that a lot of persons who have read the book, they say
that the film have been disappointed. Maybe that’s for the reasons that I have
said before, but another reason could be that a book must be adapted for a
scriptwriter to be made into films, and that could change a little bit the script.
There are people
who don’t read books; that’s because they don’t have time, they find it boring,
they never like stories… For many different reasons, there are so many people
who never read. Obviously, this people prefer films to books. They probably
think that it’s more comfortable for the viewer to sit and watch a film during
two hours, than spending a lot of time reading and trying to imagine the
places, the characters, what’s going to happen… Also, in the films can add
special effects, sounds… For example in the film The Lord of The Rings, the special effects are really important.
There are some stories
that are better on film, like Oliver
Twist, I’m a legend, or Harry Potter. Harry Potter, for example, it’s a film seen around the world and
known by everybody. The film is based on the J.K. Rowling book, considered a
bestseller. Because of the movie, when people read books of Harry Potter, they know how the
characters are, the school… Moreover
they can enjoy the special effects, and they don’t have to be so many hours
reading the books.
To finish, I dare say
that there so many people who prefer the film as people who prefer the book. Everyone
has their point of view and all are respectable. There are also people who like
to do both things, reading the book and watching the film.
About me, I prefer to be a viewer than a
reader, I mean; I prefer to watch films than reading books.
